Marian University invites applicants for the position of Adjunct Professor in Social Work, starting August 2026 . Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement and research, as well as service to the college and community. Marian University is an institution that values innovative teaching, advising and mentoring. All faculty participate in mentoring, with other related duties as assigned. Teaching responsibilities include teaching in-person courses, as well as contributing to our online programs, as demand requires. Candidates should exhibit skill and enthusiasm in teaching undergraduates and developing innovative experiential learning opportunities in the surrounding community.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Be available to teach at our Fond du Lac, Wisconsin campus.
  • Teach courses throughout the curriculum in the undergraduate Social Work Program in on-campus / in-person, online, and hybrid modes. Example courses include Field Seminars, Social Work Practice, Social Welfare Policy, Social Work Research, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, and Introduction to Social Work.
  • Engage in professional or academic activities in campus-based, local, regional or broader communities in an effort to make a positive impact and advance the recognition and reputation of Marian University.
  • Be actively involved in student mentoring, assessment and assurance of learning, and curriculum design and revision.
  • Assist post-graduate relationship, networks, and establishment of external industry relations to promote programs to employers, secure ongoing placement channels and initiate collaborations.
  • Strictly honor the privacy, security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to state, federal, and college regulations, policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's in Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program; terminal degree in the discipline is preferred.
  • Candidates who expect to teach practice courses should also have at least two years of post-MSW practice experience.
  • Willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of Marian University.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Ph.D. in Social Work. ABD and demonstration of effective teaching experience will be considered.
  • Belong to related professional groups/memberships
  • Experience with higher education teaching, both in-person and online modalities.
  • Experience in learning management system platforms.
