Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher/Director to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), fostering an inclusive learning environment, and supporting students with diverse learning needs. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with disabilities, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, and other special needs. The teacher will collaborate with families, therapists, and other educators to promote child welfare and academic success across early childhood and school-age programs. Responsibilities Design and deliver tailored lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and individual student needs, including literacy, math, physical education, and life skills. Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies to create a safe and supportive learning environment. Develop, monitor, and update IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure appropriate educational accommodations. Utilize various teaching methods and learning technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. Provide speech therapy support or coordinate with speech-language pathologists as needed for communication development. Implement early intervention strategies for toddlers and preschoolers, including Montessori or preschool-specific approaches. Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to evaluate student progress and inform instruction. Support students with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral health challenges through tailored interventions such as behavioral therapy. Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support child welfare and developmental milestones. Maintain detailed records of student progress, attendance, and behavioral data in compliance with educational standards. Skills Strong classroom management skills to maintain an organized and positive learning environment. Expertise in curriculum development across various subjects including literacy education, math, physical education, and early childhood education. Experience working with children with disabilities such as autism or developmental delays; familiarity with working with people with disabilities is essential. Knowledge of special education laws, including IEP development and implementation processes. Ability to utilize learning technology effectively to support diverse learners. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, colleagues, and specialists. Experience in behavior management techniques and behavioral health strategies. Background in early intervention programs for toddlers or preschool-aged children; experience in daycare or private school settings is a plus. Familiarity with teaching physical education or implementing Montessori methods is advantageous. Compassionate approach toward child welfare and understanding of childhood development principles.
