Job Description
Epic Special Education Staffing seeks a Teacher Certified in Visual Impairment for the school year. In this mission-driven, student-focused role, you will provide direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments, complete functional vision assessments, and develop IEP goals that promote access and independence. You will collaborate closely with school teams and families, support the use of Braille and assistive technology, and receive strong clinical and administrative support, competitive pay, full benefits, and ongoing professional growth opportunities. Responsibilities Provide direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments across assigned schools Assess functional vision and learning media needs, contributing to evaluations and IEP development Design and implement IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications to support access to the curriculum Coordinate and support the use of Braille, low-vision tools, and assistive technology Collaborate with general and special education staff, related service providers, and families Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction based on data Train staff on strategies, tools, and accessibility for students with visual impairments Participate in IEP meetings, team conferences, and required professional development Required Skills Special education instruction Visual impairment education strategies Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Assessment of functional vision Braille literacy support/coordination Assistive technology for visually impaired students Classroom accommodations and modifications Progress monitoring and data collection Collaboration with multidisciplinary school teams Family and caregiver communication Behavior and classroom management Compliance with IDEA and state special education laws
