We are seeking a passionate and dedicated VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) Teacher to inspire young learners and prepare them for the social and educational aspects of kindergarten. In this vital role, you will create a nurturing classroom environment that promotes curiosity, literacy, social-emotional growth, and foundational skills for children in the pre-kindergarten age group. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help prepare children for kindergarten and beyond, ensuring they develop essential skills through engaging lessons and personalized care. Responsibilities Develop and implement lesson plans using Creative Curriculum, ensuring that plans are aligned with Florida's early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and social skills. Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning. Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement strategies and effective behavior management techniques. Conduct assessments of child development progress using standardized testing methods and document observations accurately. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns to foster strong home-school connections. Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and safety protocols. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of childhood development trends, preschool teaching best practices, and early childhood education standards. Skills Extensive experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including preschool or daycare environments. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management, and behavior management techniques. Familiarity with special education practices, early intervention programs, and childhood development instruction. Ability to communicate effectively with young children, parents, colleagues, and administrators. Proficiency in implementing literacy education strategies and teaching physical education activities suitable for young learners. Knowledge of mandated reporting laws related to child safety and welfare. First aid and CPR certification to ensure immediate response in emergency situations. Experience with standardized testing procedures used in early childhood assessment. Ability to work within a team-oriented structure, assisting other teachers and staff as needed Strong organizational skills for managing lesson plans, classroom activities, documentation, and parent communication. A true passion for early education and exhibiting a growing relationship with Jesus Christ You must have one of the following to be qualified and considered for this position: Child Development Associate (CDA) or Florida Child Care Professional Certificate (FCCPC) earned within the last five (5) years; or An Associate's Degree or higher in Child Development; or An Associate's Degree or higher in an unrelated field, with: at least 6 credit hours in early childhood education or child development, and at least 480 hours of experience teaching or providing childcare services for children from birth to 8 years of age; or A Bachelor's Degree or higher in early childhood education, prekindergarten or primary education, preschool education, or family and consumer science; or A Bachelor's Degree in elementary education with a Florida Educator's Certificate , allowing instruction from birth through 6th grade, provided the certificate has not been suspended or revoked.
