In this vital role, you will create a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment that fosters curiosity, independence, and social-emotional growth. As a Lead Teacher , you will be responsible for implementing curriculum plans tailored to toddlers' unique needs, ensuring safety and well-being, and building strong relationships with children and their families. Your enthusiasm and expertise will inspire young minds during this foundational stage of childhood development. Duties Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum focused on early childhood education principles, including literacy, math, physical activity, and social skills. Create a safe, nurturing classroom environment that promotes exploration, learning, and positive behavior management. Plan and execute daily lesson plans that incorporate hands-on activities, sensory play, and developmental milestones for 2-year-olds. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about each child's progress, behavior, and developmental achievements through meetings or written updates. Monitor child development closely to identify individual needs related to special education or early intervention services. Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and incident reports in compliance with mandated reporting laws. Supervise classroom assistants or support staff to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality care and education. Requirements Proven experience working with children in early childhood settings, especially with toddlers aged 2 years old. Strong knowledge of childhood development theories, curriculum development, and classroom management strategies. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in child welfare and safety protocols is preferred. Familiarity with special education practices, early intervention programs, and behavior management techniques. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with parents, colleagues, and community resources. Ability to plan engaging lessons that incorporate literacy education, math concepts, physical education, and social-emotional learning. Knowledge of mandated reporting laws to ensure compliance with legal requirements related to child safety. Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Must have CDA or College credits to meet DCFS requirement to be a lead teacher.
