LBS1 Special Education Teacher

Job Description

Job Description Summary/Objective We are looking for committed Special Education Teachers to complement our qualified workforce of educators. You will be responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan according to the school's requirements. It will be fundamental to provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping them develop their personalities/character and skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with an ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust. They will know how to organize a class and make learning an easy and meaningful process. The goal is to help cultivate the students' interest in education and be their dedicated ally in the entire process of learning and development. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Create and execute individual education plans for each of the students in your care.
  • Communicate with other staff and family members about each student's progress and struggles.
  • Prepare detailed lesson plans in advance and submit them to administrators for approval.
  • Write IEP's and participate in IEP (individual education plan) meetings as scheduled by the school.
  • Utilize researched-based, best practices interventions, programs, and strategies to implement curriculum for the purpose of providing an appropriate educational program for students.
  • Assess student growth through progress monitoring as appropriate in a timely manner.
  • Use individualized reinforcement techniques to keep each student on the path toward greatness.
  • Use data driven decision-making to monitor student performance and make instructional/behavioral decisions as appropriate for the purpose of implementing effective intervention to facilitate student progress.
  • Invite family members to participate in conferences to gain knowledge of each student's educational progress.
  • Create and distribute progress reports quarterly.
  • Confer with on-site and off-site therapist over disciplinary and behavioral issues with students.
  • Create a safe, productive classroom environment utilizing PBIS.
  • Use supplementary educational technology programs.
  • Maintain effective communication with students, staff, parents, and administration for the purpose of collaboration and planning.
  • Plan and supervise the functions of all classroom paraprofessional assigned to class.
  • Participate in building or program activities/committees and meetings as appropriate for the purpose of team building.
  • Familiar with CPI Training Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Must have
ISBE PEL
Special Education License

Full-time Pay:
$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
