9650788-46526 Job Description Shape meaningful educational experiences as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist working full time with K-12 students across an entire district. In this impactful contract role, you will champion accessible learning and provide essential support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Work collaboratively with educators, families, and staff to foster a positive, inclusive school environment and promote student success.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligible) Experience supporting deaf/hard of hearing students in educational settings Strong understanding of assistive technology, IEP development, and specialized instructional strategies Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities used by deaf/hard of hearing students Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and students of varied ages Flexible approach and commitment to meeting diverse learner needs
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative services to K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing across multiple school sites Assess student needs and design individualized educational plans, ensuring effective access to the curriculum Support classroom teachers in adapting instruction and materials, and train staff on best practices Facilitate communication among students, staff, and families using relevant modalities Advocate for student accommodations and monitor progress Collaborate with other specialists, administrators, and community resources to maximize student outcomes
