JOB SUMMARY

The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher serves young children with developmental disabilities in the home, and community settings ages 0-3. This individual must have a genuine interest in working with children and their families.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

(RESPONSIBILITIES): Develops and implements effective treatment plans in coordination with other team members. Participates in the

IFSP/IEP

Team. Works with the transdisciplinary team to achieve the educational and developmental goals of the child. Maintains records as required. Conducts developmental assessments. Completes required task in a timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in person. Ability to determine and identify items and children in the periphery, near, and far visual fields.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Education required. Certification in ECH, ECD, ECSE or ECU required. Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred.

SKILLS:

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Works effectively in a team environment. Ability to work effectively with parents, children, public, and other professionals. Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.

JOB STATUS

Full-time options are 210 days (1,680 hours) or 201 days (1,608 hours) worked annually. Part-time options are 156 days (1,248 hours) worked annually.

WORK PACE

Self-paced, requiring the ability to think and act quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates homes, and community settings as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

May require frequent extended work days. Requires some travel between RUI sites, family homes, and other community agencies.
