9685532-41129 Job Description Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) supporting students throughout an engaging full-time, contract opportunity for the upcoming school year. This position is focused on collaborating with school staff and ensuring that students with visual impairments receive the specialized instruction necessary to thrive academically and developmentally.
Key Qualifications:
Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Kentucky is required Experience working with children or young adults with visual impairments is highly valued Thorough understanding of educational adaptations and use of specialized instructional materials Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially with multidisciplinary teams, families, and administrators Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to Kentucky's professional code of ethics for educators
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct, individualized instruction using evidence-based strategies tailored to each student's visual needs Modify curriculum to ensure accessibility and teach compensatory skills, including Braille as appropriate Participate actively in IEP meetings and Admission and Release Committee meetings, contributing expertise to educational planning Collaborate closely with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to foster an inclusive educational environment Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, services provided, and compliance with all relevant regulations Engage in required professional learning to stay current on best practices in visual impairment education This role offers the satisfaction of helping students achieve their fullest potential by removing barriers to learning.
