Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Dry Ridge, Kentucky

Job Description

Inspire and empower students as a dedicated educator supporting learners with visual impairments for the upcoming academic year. This contract position offers a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact in schools near Dry Ridge, KY, working county-wide from August 17, 2026, through May 26, 2027. Youll collaborate with school teams to deliver exceptional specialized instruction, ensuring accessibility and fostering independence for students who are visually impaired. The weekly commitment is 25 hours, exclusively onsite.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Kentucky SPED License with Visual Impairment (VI) endorsement Prior experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or similar role Solid understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible academic materials Ability to adapt lessons and materials to meet individualized educational needs Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff, students, and families Flexible and innovative approach to problem-solving in educational settings
Responsibilities Include:
Providing direct instruction and support to students across various school sites in the district Assessing students needs and adapting curriculum for accessibility Consulting with general education staff to facilitate inclusion in classroom activities Developing and maintaining Individualized Education Program (IEP) plans Training school staff on assistive devices and accessibility strategies Documenting student progress and participating in meetings with families and multidisciplinary teams
