Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our elementary school team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This full-time position requires a creative and adaptable educator who can develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement effective teaching strategies to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with disabilities. Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic success.
Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
Provide direct instruction in both academic and life skills to students with varying disabilities.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and needs.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP documentation.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.
Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student independence and self-advocacy.
Implement behavioral interventions and support strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills development. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Valid teaching certification in Special Education for elementary levels.
Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
Knowledge of current special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
