Job Description
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic success.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Provide direct instruction in both academic and life skills to students with varying disabilities.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and needs.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP documentation.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student independence and self-advocacy.
- Implement behavioral interventions and support strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills development. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education for elementary levels.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
- Knowledge of current special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
