Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our elementary school team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This full-time position requires a creative and adaptable educator who can develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement effective teaching strategies to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with disabilities. Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic success.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Provide direct instruction in both academic and life skills to students with varying disabilities.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP documentation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student independence and self-advocacy.
  • Implement behavioral interventions and support strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills development. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education for elementary levels.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
  • Knowledge of current special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
