Job Description

Make an immediate impact as a Special Education Teacher in welcoming elementary and high school environments near Grand Haven, MI. Multiple resource room positions are available, each offering a rewarding opportunity to support students with diverse needs in positive, inclusive settings throughout the 2026-2027 school year.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (as required by the Michigan Department of Education); or Bachelors Degree with current enrollment in a state-approved teacher certification program recognized by the
MDE Preferred:
Previous classroom teaching experience in a similar school district, especially with elementary resource SPED students
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver both direct and indirect instructional support for students with disabilities, fostering academic growth and independence Employ specialized strategies such as multisensory learning, phonics, and repetition to address sensory, motor, language, cognitive, and memory skill development Implement IEP goals and use positive behavior supports to teach socially appropriate behaviors Develop and modify curricula based on students individual needs, integrating evidence-based practices and assistive technologies Plan and facilitate engaging instructional activities that combine direct instruction, guided practice, and independent learning Collaborate closely with general education faculty, therapists, administrators, and families to maximize student achievement and maintain regulatory compliance Adapt instruction within resource room settings, with caseloads determined by assigned school This contract position is full-time (37.5 hours/week) from late October through early June. All placements are onsite to maintain hands-on support and collaborative opportunities with students and staff.
