This vital educational role focuses on fostering an inclusive learning environment for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Your expertise will help guide children toward academic and social success using specialized teaching methods and communication strategies.
Key Qualifications:
Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain) Experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in educational settings Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication methods Strong collaboration skills with teachers, families, and support staff Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Passion for supporting student growth and inclusion
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging instruction tailored for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students Adapt lessons and curricula to meet each student's learning needs and goals Work closely with classroom teachers and special education professionals to support an integrated educational experience Provide direct and consultative services, ensuring full access to the curriculum Monitor progress, document outcomes, and communicate regularly with parents and educational teams Implement and model positive communication strategies within the classroom Experience the rewarding nature of this role through close student connections, collaborative teamwork, and opportunities to advance your professional skills.
