The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of early childhood development and GSRP programming and will be committed to creating a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive. The Lead GSRP Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences, maintaining a positive classroom environment, conducting ongoing assessment, partnering with families, and working collaboratively with the Associate Teacher and other members of the educational team. Responsibilities Work collaboratively as a member of the teaching team to provide a high-quality GSRP preschool program that meets the individual needs of each child and family. Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate, and research-based lesson plans and learning experiences aligned with GSRP requirements and curriculum. Follow the daily classroom schedule and GSRP program guidelines while maintaining flexibility to meet the needs and interests of the children. Provide individualized and small-group instruction based on children's developmental needs, interests, and ongoing assessments. Support children's social-emotional development by encouraging positive self-concepts, independence, self-regulation, problem-solving, and positive relationships with others. Establish and maintain a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment. Create an effective learning environment through thoughtfully arranged interest centers, displays, learning materials, and exhibits of children's work. Conduct required screenings and ongoing developmental assessments and use assessment information to individualize instruction and support children's growth. Maintain accurate anecdotal records, portfolios, and other required documentation for each child. Monitor and support children's behavior using positive, developmentally appropriate guidance strategies. Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding their child's development, progress, and individual needs. Conduct two home visits and parent-teacher conferences each year for each child in the classroom. Participate in all required Monthly Parent Meetings and Parent Advisory Committee Meetings. Partner with families to identify needs, provide resources, and assist with appropriate follow-up and referrals. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Associate Teacher. Assist with the orientation and training of Associate Teachers and other classroom staff as needed. Recognize the Associate Teacher as an essential member of the teaching team and foster a collaborative, respectful working relationship. Collaborate with the Associate Teacher on lesson planning, classroom management, team meetings, problem-solving, and decision-making. Provide opportunities for the Associate Teacher to actively participate in classroom instruction, behavior support, family engagement, and the educational process. Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, workshops, trainings, and other scheduled program activities. Maintain compliance with all applicable Michigan Child Care Licensing, GSRP, and program requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field. Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom setting. Previous GSRP experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Ability to develop and implement engaging, research-based learning experiences. Strong classroom management and positive behavior-support skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and coworkers. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team. Passion for early childhood education and a commitment to supporting the success of every child and family.
Pay:
$20.00 - $26.00 per hour
