Middle School About the Opportunity Our education staffing agency is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to support students in a middle school self-contained (sustained support) classroom . The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students with diverse learning needs achieve academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success in a structured and supportive learning environment. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while collaborating with special education teams, related service providers, school administrators, and families. Key Responsibilities Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained sustained support classroom setting. Develop, implement, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines. Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs and learning goals. Monitor and document student progress toward IEP objectives. Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support student growth and success. Implement positive behavior intervention and support strategies to foster a safe and productive classroom environment. Manage classroom routines, schedules, accommodations, and modifications to promote student engagement and independence. Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Exceptional Children Education, or related field. Valid North Carolina teaching certification/licensure in Special Education (EC). Experience working with middle school students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs preferred. Knowledge of IEP development, behavior management techniques, and differentiated instruction. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and school personnel. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a self-contained or sustained support classroom. Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders, emotional and behavioral disabilities, and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Experience implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavioral supports. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or similar behavioral management certification preferred.
