Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a real difference working with students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) on a contract basis. This role supports the educational growth and independence of students with visual impairments in a diverse school setting. You will share your expertise, collaborate with educators, and provide tailored instruction to help students thrive both academically and socially.
Qualifications & Skills:
Valid teaching certification for Visual Impairment Experience working with children or youth with visual impairments In-depth understanding of adaptive technology and accessible instructional materials Strong collaboration skills for working with teachers, staff, and families Creative problem-solving for individualized education planning (IEP) Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with IEP goals Conduct student assessments to determine functional vision and instructional needs Create engaging lesson plans and adapt classroom materials to ensure accessibility Provide consultative support and coaching to general education staff on strategies and accommodations Foster skill-building in orientation, mobility, and daily living tasks Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning for each student Maintain timely documentation and progress reports
