Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for PreK through 5th grade students in a vibrant and supportive school setting. This full-time position runs from ASAP through May 26, 2027, offering the chance to build lasting relationships with students, staff, and families while making a meaningful impact every day. You'll work a friendly Monday through Thursday schedule, supporting a manageable caseload of 16 students. This role includes a blend of inclusion and pull-out services, allowing you to provide personalized instruction and collaborate closely with general education teachers. Your experience and passion will ensure each student receives the individualized support they need to thrive.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility) for NM Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly PreK - 5th grade Strong collaboration skills to partner with colleagues and families Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
What You'll Do:
Deliver engaging instruction tailored to individual student needs Support both inclusion classrooms and pull-out sessions, adapting teaching approaches as required Write, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams Track student progress and maintain necessary documentation Encourage student independence, social skills, and academic growth Communicate regularly with families and staff about student progress and strategies This position offers the rare benefit of a four-day work week, giving you more flexibility and room for work-life balance.
