Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting middle and high school learners as a Special Education Teacher, beginning September 1, 2026, and concluding June 25, 2027. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to co-teach and provide targeted resource support in English Language Arts for students primarily in 7th and 9th grades. With a manageable caseload of 15 students, you'll have the chance to deliver personalized guidance, while collaborating closely with the wider educational team. Bring your expertise and compassion to a Monday through Friday schedule (7:45 AM - 3 PM, about 34 hours weekly), fostering growth and achievement for each individual student. Qualifications and Experience:
Valid New York State Educator License with Special Education Endorsement At least two years of recent teaching experience preferred Proficiency in writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), as well as experience working within a multidisciplinary team Familiarity with ClearTrack for IEP and Progress Monitoring and the Woodcock-Johnson evaluation tools (Riverside Insights) is highly desirable Strong organizational skills and ability to manage both resource room and co-teaching responsibilities for grades 7-12
