In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Your expertise will help create an inclusive classroom environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will develop individualized education plans (IEPs), implement tailored instructional strategies, and collaborate closely with families and other professionals to ensure comprehensive student support. Responsibilities Design and deliver engaging, evidence-based lessons aligned with curriculum standards and tailored to meet individual student needs. Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with special education law and educational best practices. Utilize instructional modifications and accommodations to support diverse learners, including those with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Incorporate educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences and facilitate communication for students with speech or language challenges. Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies to promote a safe and productive learning environment. Collaborate regularly with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, occupational therapists, parents, and other educators to coordinate student support plans. Conduct ongoing assessments using standardized testing and formative evaluations to track progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Engage in parent-teacher communication to share student progress, discuss concerns, and foster strong home-school partnerships. Provide tutoring, mentoring, and additional support as needed to help students achieve their academic goals in literacy, math, library services, or other core subjects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification/license for special education or equivalent credentials as required by local regulations. Proven classroom experience working with children with disabilities in elementary or preschool settings. Strong knowledge of special education law (IDEA), IEP development, instructional modifications, and behavior management techniques. Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or with neurodevelopmental disorders; familiarity with early intervention strategies highly desirable. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with families, colleagues, therapists, and community resources. Proficiency in educational technology integration and curriculum development tailored for diverse learners. Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively while fostering an inclusive environment that promotes social-emotional growth.
