POSITION

Elementary Special Education Teacher

RESPONSIBLE TO

Superintendent and Building Principal

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Creating a flexible school age based program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishing effective rapport with pupils; motivating pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for preparation for college, careers, and citizenship, in accordance with each pupil's ability; and establishing good relationships with parents and with other staff members; prepares, administers, and corrects tests, and records results; assigns lessons, corrects papers, etc.; teaches rules of conduct; maintains order in classroom and on school grounds; counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise, discusses pupils' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents; keeps attendance and grade records as required by school; other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and valid Mild/Moderate SPED certification. Additional Elementary Education certifications are a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Regular attendance following a designated work schedule; must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities; must be able to attend and participate in meetings and conferences scheduled.
