Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students with mild intellectual disabilities. In this contract-based role, you'll work within a core replacement classroom, adapting curriculum and offering targeted instruction to foster each child's academic growth and confidence. The position offers immediate start for a candidate passionate about helping students thrive in a supportive educational environment.
Qualifications:
Current South Carolina Special Education (SPED) certification required Experience or knowledge in teaching students with mild intellectual disabilities preferred Ability to adapt and differentiate grade-level curricula to meet diverse learning needs Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining documentation Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with families, staff, and specialists Experience contributing to and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction in a core replacement classroom Align instructional strategies with each student's IEP goals and objectives Provide targeted teaching in essential academic areas Document student progress, accommodations, and modifications accurately Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers Participate actively in IEP meetings to help set and review individualized student goals Foster a classroom environment that is positive, structured, and inclusive Communicate progress and concerns to families and multidisciplinary teams This is a rewarding opportunity to help students discover their abilities, gain confidence, and experience success.
