This position specializes in providing educational services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, working within a collaborative school environment. The opportunity is designed as part-time at a primary location near Callao, VA, with the added flexibility of pairing with assignments in nearby areas to create a full-time schedule.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid teaching license with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement (or eligibility) Experience or coursework related to DHH education Knowledge of various communication methods used in the DHH community, including American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken language supports Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Skilled in fostering inclusive, accessible classroom environments Strong organizational and communication abilities Commitment to collaborating with other teachers, therapists, and school staff
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver direct teaching and consultative support adapted for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Develop lesson plans and adapted materials based on IEP goals Work closely with general education teachers to promote student participation and success in all classroom settings Regularly assess student progress and adjust strategies as needed Facilitate collaboration among families, educators, and external specialists Provide advocacy, resources, and recommendations that aid in academic and social-emotional growth
