Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact delivering one-on-one instruction as a Special Education Teacher working with a first-grade student requiring compensatory services. You'll apply your expertise to support a non-verbal learner who exhibits self-injurious behaviors, providing a vital educational experience directly in the student's home environment. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to create positive change through highly personalized engagement.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teaching certification for the appropriate grade level Experience working with elementary-grade students, preferably in home-based or individualized settings Skilled in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Previous experience supporting non-verbal students and those demonstrating behavioral needs, including self-injurious behaviors Ability to remain patient, adaptive, and compassionate under challenging circumstances Excellent communication and collaboration skills with families and related service providers
Your Role & Responsibilities:
Provide specially designed instruction to fulfill compensatory service hours as outlined for the student Utilize evidence-based strategies tailored to support a non-verbal first-grade learner Implement behavioral supports and safety strategies to ensure a positive and productive learning experience Collect data and monitor student progress, adjusting approaches as needed Maintain clear, professional communication with family members and school representatives Adapt instruction for both in-person and potential virtual (Voco) service delivery, as required This opportunity lets you focus fully on one student's academic and behavioral progress, elevating the individualized impact you can make.
