Empower students with visual impairments to reach their full potential in an inclusive and supportive educational environment. Take on a fulfilling contract role near Bonney Lake, WA, working with a diverse Pre-K through 8th grade student population. This position invites skilled professionals with a passion for specialized education to make a measurable impact through targeted services.
Qualifications and Experience:
Possession of a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement. Demonstrated experience working with children who are visually impaired, especially in school settings. Strong communication and consultative skills, adept at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families. Ability to adapt consultation to meet the unique needs of students at varying developmental stages from Pre-K through 8th grade.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver consultative services to students and educational staff, guiding the implementation of strategies and accommodations tailored to individual needs. Schedule and conduct regular consultations (30 minutes per month, with three additional 30-minute sessions throughout the school year) within flexible, pre-determined time frames. Provide expertise on accessible instructional materials, technologies, and classroom modifications to support student success. Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to develop and monitor individualized education plans, ensuring compliance and promoting best practices in inclusive education. Share insights and recommendations for classroom adaptations, fostering an empowering learning environment for students with visual impairments.
