Special Education/Behavior & Academic Interventionist

DESCRIPTION

The Behavior & Academic Intervention Teacher provides targeted academic and behavioral support to students needing additional intervention to successfully access the general education environment. This position is a .4 FTE which primarily works with students individually and in small groups to design and deliver Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions based on identified student needs. The intervention teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, special education staff, and school teams to analyze student data, design targeted instruction and behavioral supports, monitor progress, and adjust interventions based on student response. The ideal candidate is skilled in building strong student relationships, providing explicit and responsive instruction, and supporting students with a range of academic, behavioral, and self-regulation needs. Special Education endorsement and experience supporting students with intensive academic and behavioral needs preferred. Special Education certification required.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Special Education certification required.  Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements.  Experience working with elementary school students preferred.  Highly skilled at building relationships with children and families.  Experience creating and maintaining a positive learning environment.  Use a variety of instructional strategies to help all students learn.  Ability to collect meaningful data to drive instruction in a way that all students will have an opportunity to learn.  Ability to develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with other employees, parents, and students where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.  Team player who will consistently collaborate with AmeriCorps tutors.  Willingness to participate in building and district professional development.  Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, parents, staff, and program.  Experience providing an enthusiastic and positive learning climate that promotes appropriate behavior and successful learning.  This is an on-site/in-person position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.  This is an on-site working position.  Maintaining regular attendance and punctuality  Responding to stressful situations appropriately.

Wages:
