Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Support students in a rewarding contract position as a specialist working with visually impaired learners. Use your expertise in Braille and adaptive strategies to ensure students receive an engaging, equitable education experience. Work collaboratively with educators to meet the unique needs of individuals on your caseload.
Desired Experience and Skills:
State licensure or certification to teach visually impaired students (TVI) Proficiency in Braille instruction and transcription Previous experience working with students who are blind or have low vision Ability to design and implement individualized instructional materials Strong communication skills for collaborating with staff and families Adaptability and a student-centered approach
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction in Braille reading and writing to students with visual impairments Assess students' abilities and tailor educational materials accordingly Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt lessons and ensure accessibility Support the use of assistive technology and tactile learning tools Complete required documentation, progress reports, and IEP goals Serve as a resource for school staff regarding vision-related accommodations and modifications As a valued professional, you'll influence educational outcomes and empower students to thrive academically and personally.
