Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of young adults by guiding them through critical life transitions as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This onsite, full-time contract opportunity is dedicated to supporting students ages 18-22 in a transition classroom environment. The position is located near Tacoma, WA, and offers an impactful way to use your specialized expertise within a welcoming and supportive educational setting. Ideal candidates are experienced educators, currently in the mid-stage of their career, with an in-depth understanding of special education and a strong track record in school settings.
Qualifications & Experience:
Active Washington Special Education (SPED) license and Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate required Minimum of 5 years' recent experience as a Special Education Teacher Previous experience supporting transition-age students (18-22 years) highly desired Demonstrated success working onsite in school environments Familiarity with transition planning, life skills, and vocational readiness support Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to support transition-aged students in achieving academic, vocational, and life skills Create inclusive classroom strategies that meet diverse learning needs Develop and implement transition plans in collaboration with students, families, and school professionals Maintain thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings Foster a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
