Job Description

Laguna Blanca School is a college preparatory, coeducational day school located on two campuses in Santa Barbara, California. Grades EK-4 are located on a quaint campus in Montecito, while Grades 5-12 are located on Laguna's historic campus in idyllic Hope Ranch. Laguna Blanca emphasizes its core values of scholarship, character, balance, and community in its programs. Laguna Blanca School is seeking dependable and engaging Substitute Teachers to support instruction across at our Hope Ranch campus with students 5th - 12th grades. Substitutes play an essential role in maintaining continuity of learning by stepping into classrooms when faculty are absent due to illness or planned leave. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in person with students in Grades 5-12 and brings flexibility, professionalism, and a positive presence to the classroom. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a vibrant learning community while supporting students' academic and social growth. COMPETITIVE APPLICANTS WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Experience teaching or working with Middle, and/or Upper School students (Grades EK-12) Ability to follow lesson plans and support student learning across a range of subjects Proficiency with Google Suite and comfort accessing digital classroom materials Reliable and responsive, with the ability to accept assignments and communicate with the Sub Coordinator in a timely manner Strong classroom presence and ability to engage students with varied learning styles Positive, energetic, and professional demeanor Excellent verbal and written communication skills Technologically confident in an educational setting Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly and multitask Ability to build respectful and positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families
QUALIFICATIONS
The most qualified candidates will have prior classroom, library, or school-based experience and a genuine interest in supporting student learning in a dynamic school environment. Candidates should be technologically proficient and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Bachelor's degree required Prior teaching or school experience required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A
minimum of a Bachelor's degree in English or related field; Masters Degree highly preferred. California Teaching Credential highly preferred. Ongoing maintenance of all requirements regarding professional courses and in-services required. Prior 3-5 years of teaching experience is highly preferred. Prior experience with Universal Design, PBL and/or Responsive Classroom training is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to traverse school facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency Occasionally bend, stoop, squat and lift up to 40 lbs as part of job duties Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for school-related events or projects Have a current TB Assessment Must provide a clear fingerprint test and background check Have CPR and First Aid certifications or have the ability to become certified upon employment

OMPENSATION
Competitive wage of $200/day.
