Substitute Teacher Job Description Hillside School is currently hiring substitutes for the 2026-27 school year. Located in the Gunbarrel neighborhood in Boulder County, Hillside School is a half-day program for students with dyslexia, ranging from 2nd to 10th grade. Classes of up to five students receive academic remediation in the areas of reading, writing, and math. You can learn more about our program at hillsidelearning.org.

Responsibilities:

Connect with your students and provide a safe, encouraging classroom environment Implement a teacher-provided lesson plan to teach a 3-hour session, consisting of reading, writing, and math instruction to a group of four students Supervise one of the two outside breaks during each session you are covering

Schedule:

Morning session: 8am - 11am, subs should arrive no later than 7:45am to prepare for the student's arrival Afternoon session: 12pm - 3pm, subs should arrive no later than 11:45 to prepare for the student's arrival The Ideal Candidate will: genuinely enjoy working with children and adolescents be optimistic, patient, and caring in their approach to working with students possess an understanding of dyslexia and how it impacts students in the classroom have experience working with a structured literacy program, such as Orton Gillingham, Wilson, Barton, etc. be willing to ask for help and collaborate with other faculty and staff if there is uncertainty with lesson plans or particular student needs

Requirements:

experience teaching or working with children in an educational setting grant permission for a criminal background check upon hire

Pay Rate:

$90 per half-day session (either morning or afternoon) $180 per full-day

Pay:

$180.00 per day
