Montessori Substitute Teacher Durango Montessori School is looking for dependable, caring, and flexible Substitute Teachers to support our Montessori classrooms when regular staff members are absent. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, ages 3-11, and wants to be part of a supportive school community. Montessori experience is welcome but not required. We are looking for individuals who are patient, responsible, adaptable, and comfortable working with children of different ages. Responsibilities Follow classroom lesson plans, routines, and expectations. Provide a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Support students with their Montessori work and daily classroom activities. Encourage independence, responsibility, and positive behavior. Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and transitions. Maintain classroom routines and a prepared, orderly environment. Communicate important information with classroom teachers and administration. Follow school safety, confidentiality, and emergency procedures. Work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff. Qualifications Experience working with children preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Montessori experience or training is a plus, but not required. Dependable, punctual, and flexible. Patient and comfortable working with children. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to follow directions and adapt to different classroom environments. CPR/First Aid certification is a plus. TRAILS background check required

Position Details Important:

This is an on-call position. Substitute needs are often determined first thing in the morning , so we are looking for individuals who are comfortable receiving a same-day call and, when available, coming in to support the school. Ideally, substitutes will have availability 2-3 days per week between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. There is no guarantee of a set number of hours each week.

Pay:

$21.00 per hour
