Temporary / As-Needed Overview Impact Charter School is seeking reliable, flexible, and student-focused individuals to join our substitute teacher roster. Substitute Teachers provide classroom coverage when a regular teacher is absent, ensuring students continue learning in a safe, structured, and engaging environment. This position is on an as-needed basis and is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and are looking for flexible work opportunities in education. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise students and maintain a positive, productive classroom environment. Implement lesson plans and instructions provided by the regular classroom teacher. Ensure student safety and adherence to school policies and procedures. Manage classroom behavior in a professional and respectful manner. Take attendance and maintain accurate records as requested. Communicate effectively with school administrators, teachers, and staff regarding classroom activities and any concerns that arise during the day. Provide assistance to students as needed while maintaining instructional continuity. Leave notes for the regular teacher regarding classroom progress, assignments completed, and any significant issues. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred. Experience working with children, youth programs, childcare, tutoring, or educational settings preferred. Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a professional learning environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow written lesson plans and school procedures. Dependable, punctual, and adaptable to varying grade levels and assignments. Must successfully pass all required background checks and meet state and school employment requirements. Schedule This is an as-needed position . Work assignments are offered based on staffing needs and teacher absences. There is no guarantee of a minimum number of workdays. Physical Demands & Work Environment This position requires frequent walking and standing, supervision of students indoors and outdoors, and the ability to respond to emergency situations as needed. The work environment may include exposure to varied weather conditions, occasional evening or weekend events, and a fast-paced school setting with frequent interruptions. Pre-Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting as required by Louisiana law. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of the employment offer.
