ABOUT THE ROLE
Arbor Associates is seeking licensed Elementary Substitute Teachers for per diem and long-term contract placements at a public school in Providence, RI. Substitutes will cover elementary classrooms across grade levels as needed, stepping into an active co-teaching model where each classroom serves 30-32 students with two teachers present. This is an excellent opportunity for educators who want consistent, meaningful work in a school that values its staff. Bilingual candidates and those holding Special Education licensure are especially encouraged to apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow lesson plans left by the classroom teacher and deliver instruction in a clear, engaging manner appropriate to the grade level. Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment for 30-32 students. Support the co-teaching model by collaborating with the classroom's other teacher when present. Manage student behavior consistently and in accordance with school policies and expectations. Differentiate support for students with varied learning needs, including those with IEPs and English language learners. Accurately document attendance, follow school procedures, and communicate any classroom concerns to school staff. Represent Arbor Associates professionally and serve as a reliable, dependable presence in the school community. 3. Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Licensure /
Certification:
Rhode Island RIDE Elementary Education license required. Candidates holding a current teaching license from a state with Rhode Island reciprocity will be considered and must be prepared to obtain RI licensure. Special Education licensure or endorsement is a strong plus.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Education, or a related field required.
Experience:
Prior classroom teaching, student teaching, or substitute teaching experience at the elementary level preferred. Comfort working in a co-teaching or team-based classroom environment a plus.
Language Skills:
Bilingual candidates (Spanish preferred) are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given priority consideration.
Other Requirements:
Must successfully complete a background check and any additional screening required by the school or district prior to placement. Must be reliable, punctual, and available to accept assignments on short notice for per diem work.
