Immediately Job Description Wakefield Memorial High School seeks two Building-Based Substitute Teachers who are qualified and knowledgeable to join our school community of teachers, learners, and leaders. The Building-Based Substitute Teacher will perform the in-person instructional practices outlined by the teacher who is absent. The candidate should have strength in managing and leading classroom schedules and activities that define the school day. Specifically, we are looking for candidates who can commit to cover 3 specific days each week. •Building Base Substitute Teachers are assigned to a single school to cover teacher absences. Assignments at the school may be subject to change daily.•Reports to:
Principal Responsibilities:
Effectively manage a classroom of students by keeping them on task and engaged Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the absent teacher Follow lesson plans left by the classroom teacher Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours Maintain a positive learning environment Leave feedback and notes for the regular classroom teacher Assist with non-classroom duties when assigned Qualifications -
Required:
Education:
Minimum of an undergraduate college/university degree. Successfully complete a screening interview with the School Principal or Human Resources Department. Pass a
CORI/SORI
criminal background check. Qualifications -
Preferred:
Massachusetts Teaching License in assigned content and grade level, including SEI Endorsement if applicable. Experience in a school or community setting working with children Candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity. Knowledge in utilizing technological tools such as iPads, Chromebooks as well as the Google Classroom platform is preferred
