Job Description

North Daviess R-III is seeking dependable, student-centered substitute teachers to serve in preschool through grade 12. Substitute teachers maintain a safe, positive learning environment and continue classroom instruction during a teacher's absence. Our district offers small class sizes, a supportive staff, and a four-day school week, with students generally attending Tuesday through Friday. Responsibilities Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the classroom teacher. Assist students with assignments and keep them engaged in learning. Maintain classroom routines and reinforce school behavior expectations. Supervise students during assigned classroom and nonclassroom activities. Record attendance and leave a summary for the classroom teacher. Communicate concerns promptly to school administration. Maintain confidentiality and follow district policies and safety procedures. Qualifications Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Missouri substitute teaching certificate or appropriate teaching certificate. Complete required background checks and district employment requirements. Demonstrate strong communication skills, flexibility, and patience. Work effectively with students of varying ages, abilities, and needs.
