Job Description

Vida Charter School is accepting applications for daily substitute teaching positions. Work schedule can be flexible, with day-to-day assignments depending on school needs. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a bilingual and globally minded educational environment, and to be part of a collaborative and supportive multicultural staff and community. The daily substitute rate is $135 per day for a full day (8am-3:30pm) and $67.50 for half days (8am-12pm OR 12pm - 3:30pm). Daily Substitute Elementary Teacher Position Summary The Daily Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Working in a multicultural, bilingual school environment, the substitute fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning space that values the diversity of all students and supports bilingualism as an asset. Key Responsibilities Maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported. Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher to deliver engaging instruction. Adapt to the needs of a diverse student population, including English learners and bilingual students. Support classroom routines, procedures, and expectations to ensure continuity of learning. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators, modeling cultural sensitivity and respect. Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, or other school settings as needed. Report attendance, student progress, and any concerns to the appropriate staff. Uphold school policies, confidentiality standards, and professional expectations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; teaching certification a plus. Prior experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt instruction as needed. Strong classroom management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred, but not required. Background checks including Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), Federal Criminal History Clearance (Act 114) Act 168 Clearances as applicable Tuberculosis Test reflecting negative results
