Job Description

Job Overview The Discovery Preschools is seeking a dependable, flexible, and experienced Lead Teacher Substitute to support our classrooms and teaching teams. This position is ideal for an educator who is confident working with children across all age groups and enjoys being a consistent, positive presence throughout the school. The Lead Teacher Substitute will be trained in all classrooms and age groups, allowing them to step in as a Lead Teacher wherever support is needed. This individual should be comfortable working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and Pre-K children and be able to quickly adapt to the routines, curriculum, and needs of each classroom. Responsibilities Serve as a Lead Teacher in classrooms across all age groups, from infants through Pre-K. Provide classroom coverage and support wherever needed throughout the school. Follow and maintain each classroom's daily schedule, routines, and curriculum. Create a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel safe and supported. Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities that encourage children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development. Maintain active supervision of children at all times and follow all health and safety procedures. Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members. Support classroom teachers and work collaboratively with the teaching team. Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and appropriate learning environments. Communicate children's needs, classroom updates, and relevant information to leadership and staff. Follow all school policies, procedures, and state licensing requirements. Be flexible and willing to move between classrooms based on daily staffing needs. Step into a classroom with confidence and maintain consistency even when working with a new group of children. Requirements Previous experience working in an early childhood education setting required. Lead Teacher or equivalent classroom experience preferred. Experience working with multiple age groups , including infants, toddlers, preschool, and Pre-K. Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices. Ability to confidently lead a classroom independently when needed. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing classroom needs. Positive attitude and willingness to support wherever needed. CDA or other early childhood education credentials preferred. Must meet all applicable state requirements for working in a childcare setting. We are looking for someone who is more than a traditional substitute. Our ideal Lead Teacher Substitute is an educator who can confidently walk into any classroom, understand the needs of the children and teachers, and take the lead. The right candidate is comfortable working with all age groups , enjoys variety in their day, and is able to quickly build relationships with children while maintaining classroom structure and consistency. This role requires someone who is dependable, adaptable, proactive, and confident in their teaching abilities.
