QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of Associate Degree or Minimum of 60 college credits or successful passage of ETS ParaPro Satisfactory Child Protection Registry Mantoux skin test/PPD documentation Cooperative Attitude Excellent work ethic and ability to work collaboratively The State of Delaware requires all public-school employees to undergo a criminal background check (state and federal) to determine suitability for employment. Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory criminal background check, which is the responsibility of the employee. The State of Delaware requires new employees to be paid by direct deposit and to be part of a lag payroll system as conditions of employment. Experience providing one-to-one support to students with disabilities, including use of individualized communication, sensory, or behavior-support strategies, is preferred but not required.

JOB SUMMARY

Provide dedicated one-to-one support to an assigned student throughout the school day, assisting with access to instruction, participation in classroom routines, and engagement in school activities. Implement the student's IEP accommodations and individualized instructional, communication, and behavioral supports under the direction of the special education teacher. Assist with daily classroom activities, structured learning opportunities, social interactions, community outings, and the development of functional and independent livings skills in a specialized educational setting. Support the student's engagement, safety, personal care, and increasing independence while observing and communicating relevant progress or concerns to the classroom teacher. Maintain consistent supervision and individualized support during classroom activities, school routines, and community-based learning experiences while encouraging participation with peers, promoting independence, and following the classroom teacher's direction and district procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide attentive one-to-one supervision and support to the assigned student, maintaining a safe, respectful, structured, and supportive environment that promotes learning, dignity, communication, and independence. Assist teacher with student needs; may include feeding, lifting, toileting, and other learning activities Implement the assigned student's IEP accommodations, communication strategies, sensory supports, behavior-support strategies, adaptive equipment use, and other identified services under the direction of the teacher and in accordance with district procedures. Observe and communicate relevant information about the student's engagement, communication, behavior, safety, and progress to the teacher; follow classroom routines, confidentiality requirements, and school and district procedures, and report concerns or incidents promptly. Perform other related duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration.
