In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers in creating an inclusive, engaging, and nurturing learning environment for students with diverse needs. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster academic growth, social development, and positive behavior among students, especially those with disabilities or special education needs. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children's lives while gaining valuable experience in education. Duties Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and early childhood education principles Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or behavioral challenges Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and implementing behavior management strategies for students with special needs Help facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods as needed Assist with physical support and mobility for students requiring physical assistance or accommodations during classroom activities Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs Support classroom organization, prepare materials, and assist in lesson planning to ensure a smooth learning experience for all students Requirements Prior experience working with children or in early childhood education settings, including preschool or toddler care environments Knowledge of special education practices, including behavior management for students with disabilities and understanding of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) standards Experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities is highly preferred Familiarity with classroom support techniques such as curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, and basic math instruction Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with educators, parents, and specialists Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and professionally Physical ability to assist students requiring mobility or physical support during daily activities Certification or training in deaf education or American Sign Language is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is valued Passion for working with children and a commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments Join us in creating a vibrant educational atmosphere where every student can thrive!
