This vital role involves working closely with teachers, specialists, and families to foster an inclusive and engaging learning atmosphere. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, compassion, and a strong commitment to helping students succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children while gaining valuable experience in education and special needs support. Duties Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and early childhood education. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges. Support students' social-emotional development through positive behavior management strategies and behavior support techniques. Help facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods for students with communication needs. Assist with classroom management by maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive environment conducive to learning. Support students' physical needs through mobility assistance, personal care, and classroom support in special education settings. Collaborate regularly with teachers, therapists, counselors, and families to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) and adapt instructional strategies accordingly. Requirements Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and behavioral disorders. Knowledge of childhood development principles, early childhood education practices, and classroom management techniques. Familiarity with special education laws such as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and experience supporting IEP goals. Proficiency in basic math skills, literacy education strategies, and curriculum development for diverse learners. Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—and the ability to handle confidential information discreetly. Experience working within private school settings or preschool environments is preferred. Ability to provide physical assistance for students as needed while maintaining safety protocols. Demonstrated collaboration skills for working effectively with other professionals to support student success. Knowledge of Montessori or preschool teaching methods is a plus.
