Our unique program combines dual language education with the Montessori approach. We develop global citizens ready to succeed in the future's multicultural, multilingual world. The school has two campuses, one in the West Loop Neighborhood of Chicago and the other in the heart of Oak Park. Our school is a diverse international community. Position Overview The Toddler Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and welcoming community, while fostering a peaceful, respectful environment in which young children build self-confidence and independence through the Montessori method. Working in close partnership with the Lead Teacher, this position ensures a clean, organized, and supportive classroom community. The toddler program is open 8:00am-5:30pm. Key Responsibilities

Montessori & Independence:
Guide toddlers toward self-directed learning and personal independence in daily routines and self-care. Model Grace and Courtesy, fostering a calm and supportive environment tailored to each child's development. Help navigate conflict resolution in a positive manner, ensuring respectful and caring interactions, while treating children as competent individuals.

Classroom Maintenance & Cleaning:
Actively maintain a hygienic, safe, and orderly environment through frequent daily cleaning, sanitizing, and material preparation. Assist with snack prep, mealtime, toileting/diapering, and rest time.

Team Collaboration:
Work seamlessly with the Lead Teacher and team to support curriculum goals, observe student progress, and step in when the lead is away. Always protecting the privacy of individuals. Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues, administrators, and families. Qualifications & Requirements

Age & Education:
High School Degree required, with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or 64+ college credit hours (including 21+ ECE credits) a plus.

Certifications:
Illinois Department of Early Childhood required trainings, doctor's physical required every two years, along with other requirements due upon employment. Yearly professional development classes, open to continuous learning, etc.

Mindset & Physical Demands:
Familiarity with Montessori principles (or strong willingness to learn). Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and comfortably bend, stoop, crouch, and move with active toddlers throughout the day. Sensitivity to socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, and to the individual needs and capabilities of our community. Observation, interpersonal, and active listening skills are essential. Must be reliable and adaptable to various situations and the changing needs of the classrooms and the school.
