Job Description The Paraprofessional/HomeMaker provides in-home support services to families involved with the Department of Child Services. This role focuses on assisting families with daily living tasks, promoting a safe and healthy environment, and supporting caseworker goals to improve family stability and child well-being. The Paraprofessional/HomeMaker works under the supervision of a caseworker and plays a vital role in helping families develop routines and skills necessary for safe and effective parenting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist families with daily household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and organizing to maintain a safe and sanitary home environment.
Support families in establishing and maintaining routines that promote child safety and well-being.
Provide supervision and monitoring of child care practices as directed by caseworkers.
Assist caregivers in managing household finances, budgeting, and resources as needed.
Transport family members to appointments, school, or other necessary locations when applicable.
Document daily activities, family interactions, and progress made toward family goals.
Report any concerns, observations, or incidents to supervising caseworkers promptly.
Encourage positive parent-child interactions and support skill-building activities as directed.
Assist with meal preparation and nutritional guidance when applicable.
Maintain confidentiality and respect family privacy at all times.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant training or certification preferred.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Ability to work independently and follow supervision.
Basic housekeeping, cooking, and childcare skills.
Good communication skills and ability to build rapport with families.
Patience, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.
Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Understanding of family dynamics and child welfare practices is a plus.
Must pass background checks as required by DCS.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform household tasks including lifting, standing, and bending.
Mobility to assist children and perform caregiving duties.
