Job Description

INTERNAL ONLY
Title:

Unified Sports Student Assistant Paraeducator

Salary:

$23/hour stipend rate for AFSCME

$33/hour stipend rate for BTA

Schedule:

Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays (2 hours/day)

Games schedule is listed on Arbiter (home games 3 hours/day) (away games 4 hours/day)

Note:

For away games student assistant must ride the bus with the students.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist students in accessing the unified sports program both during practices and games.

2. Help students put equipment on in the locker room before practice and remove/store equipment after practices.

3. Facilitate participation within the unified sports program.

4. Facilitate social interaction within a unified sports program with peers and coaches.

5. Works under the direction of the unified sports coach.

6. Guide students through warm up activities and drills.

7. Guide student in fitness and weight training program.

8. Keep students involved in the practice activities.

9. Monitor students during games, both home and away.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Diploma

2. Experience working with students with special needs is preferred.

3. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

4. Good communication skills.

5. Knowledge of medical conditions including seizure care or willing to learn.
