The TA will support the lead instructor in delivering hands-on and classroom instruction across animal health, nutrition, behavior, grooming, and husbandry. The ideal candidate has direct experience handling diverse companion animals—including dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, and fish—and a passion for guiding students toward careers in the animal industry.

Teaching Assistant

REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Teaching Assistant reports to the CTAE Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent. Bilingual preferred. 2-5 years of field experience required. Satisfactory SAFIS, CORI, and SORI background checks required. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent-Director may find appropriate and in conformity with state and federal law.

DUTIES:

Under supervision, assists the Teacher in the administration of instruction in traditional and non traditional settings; Assist the Teacher in the preparation of lessons and other related learning materials; Integrates the basic principles of child development to complement learning goals; Redirects and adapts students who are observed having difficulties towards the appropriate classroom resources; Builds formidable and educationally appropriate relationships with students; Implements appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities; Performs other duties as required and assumes such other responsibilities as the Coordinator or their Designee may assign.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times. The position may require in and out-of-district travel.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a 10-month position, 184 day position, with hours to be set by the Coordinator or designee. Salary and fringe benefits are established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee.
