Job Description:
A paraeducator supports teachers and students in the classroom by providing instructional
assistance, supervision, and help with daily learning activities. The paraeducator works under the
direction of a certified teacher or school administrator to help ensure students receive a safe,
supportive, and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the teacher with classroom instruction and student activities
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons
Help prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
Support students with special needs, behavior plans, or accommodations
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher
Supervise students during class, lunch, recess, field trips, or transitions
Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment
Assist with basic clerical tasks as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate's degree or 48 college credits, or have passed either ParaPro or WorkKeys
Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills
Ability to follow teacher direction and school policies
Basic reading, writing, and math skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist students as needed
May need to lift up to 50lbs to help support students and move classroom materials
