Job Description
Special Education Administrative Assistant vacancy. This is a full-time extended school year position (Includes summer schedule) for Hatfield Public Schools. The Student Services Department oversees, special education, 504, EL, state reporting for McKinney-Vento, foster students, special education transportation, Out-of-District placements, several state Indicators, Circuit Breaker and School Choice Increment data entry and reporting, and Special Education entitlement grants. The person in this position is responsible for scheduling IEP meetings, sending out IEP related paperwork, aspects of state reporting and data entry, and processing IEPs.
Also, the person in this position will have to be able to manage and use the web based IEP management program (eSped) to process IEPs, run reports, and track data relevant to progress reporting and active v. inactive IEPs. They will also need to enter state codes into the system and assure that all data in the IEP management program is accurate and up to date.
Other duties include being able to develop and process purchase orders, book keeping of grant account expenses, and processing invoices as they come in.
This position requires a high degree of confidentiality, communicating with parents and colleagues, following up on directives from the director, and working flexibly with other staff within a small community school district and office. Good communication skills and follow through on tasks are essential in this position. Managing record keeping, taking notes, keeping and managing a meeting schedule, as well as processing various documents are necessary skills in this role.
