Job Description

The School of Health, Nutrition & Wellness seeks an undergraduate student to support a lifestyle training research project during September 2026. The student will help prepare and staff two campus pilot events (September 17 and 24). Responsibilities include assisting with session materials, attendance, and data documentation, and general research support. This is a short-term, project-based position; continuation depends on program needs and funding. Qualifications summary Currently enrolled undergraduate student at Andrews University with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and good academic standing. Excellent written English and attention to detail required. Preference given to students in the School of Health, Nutrition & Wellness; other qualified Andrews students will be considered. Must be available for both the September 17 and September 24 event dates. Video production or editing skills a plus. Duties and responsibilities Help prepare and staff two campus pilot events on September 17 and September 24, each combining a short student-delivered Lifestyle Medicine/culinary education segment, a simple plant-based meal prepared by students, and a 30-minute Walk with a Doc campus walk. Assist with preparing session materials, handouts, cooking demonstration, purchase of supplies for the lifestyle and culinary education segments. Support basic attendance tracking and data documentation for the research pilot, consistent with the project's evaluation framework. Assist in organizing and assembling program materials to inform the subsequent community-based implementation of the project. Provide general logistical and administrative support to faculty coordinating the September pilot events. Assist with de-identified, non-clinical documentation tasks as directed, following training in privacy protection and responsible data handling. Assist with photography, video recording, or basic video editing for event or educational documentation. Perform other related research and event-support duties as assigned. Supervisory responsibilities None. This position does not supervise other employees or students.
Qualifications Required:
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Andrews University. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Good academic standing. Excellent written English and attention to detail. Ability to work independently after receiving instructions and to meet deadlines reliably. Available to work both the September 17 and September 24 event dates in addition to other days prior to the events. Professional, dependable, and able to work collaboratively with faculty and other students.
Preferred:
Student in the School of Health, Nutrition & Wellness. Qualified students from other Andrews University programs will also be considered. Interest in public health, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, or community health research. Experience with basic data entry, documentation, or research assistance. Knowledge of video production, recording, or editing. Technical competencies Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace for documentation and data entry. Basic photo or video recording/editing skills are a plus. Interpersonal interactions Must be comfortable interacting professionally with faculty, staff, and campus community members while helping facilitate the September 17 and 24 Walk and lifestyle education events. Physical demands Primarily sedentary office/classroom work, with light lifting (up to 25 pounds), standing, and walking required when setting up materials for the September events and during the Walk with a Doc campus walk. Work environment Primarily an indoor office and classroom setting, with outdoor campus work during the Walk with a Doc portion of the September 17 and 24 events.
