Preschool Assistant Teacher & Lunch Specialist For Kids' Sake Early Learning Centers Schedule:
Monday-Friday | Must be available at least 10:00 AM-5:30 PM For Kids' Sake Early Learning Centers is seeking an experienced, caring, and dependable Preschool Assistant Teacher & Lunch Specialist to join our team! This is a unique position combining two important roles within our center. You will support our preschool classroom alongside the Lead Teacher while also serving as our Lunch Specialist , helping prepare and serve the hot lunches our children enjoy each day. We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience working with children who understands the importance of creating a positive, engaging, and well-managed preschool environment. The ideal candidate is organized, takes initiative, enjoys working as part of a team, and is comfortable preparing meals for groups of children. Schedule & Availability Monday through Friday availability is required Candidates must be available to work at least 10:00 AM-5:30 PM Consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential Preschool Classroom Responsibilities Partner with the Lead Teacher to implement developmentally appropriate preschool activities Actively engage children in meaningful, play-based learning Help create and maintain a classroom that is safe, healthy, warm, organized, and inviting Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development Use positive guidance techniques and maintain a calm, patient, and respectful approach with children Assist with classroom routines, transitions, meals, rest time, outdoor play, and other daily activities Observe children's development and assist with maintaining accurate classroom and child records Provide individualized attention and support based on children's needs Communicate professionally and positively with families, children, and coworkers Take initiative and anticipate classroom needs Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and actively supervise children at all times Model caring, respectful, responsible, and professional behavior Lunch Specialist Responsibilities An important part of this position is helping us provide children with a hot lunch each day . As our Lunch Specialist, you will be responsible for helping make lunchtime a safe, organized, and positive part of the children's day.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare our center's daily hot lunch menu for children Follow established menus, recipes, portion sizes, and meal schedules Prepare meals in a timely manner so classrooms can maintain their daily schedules Follow appropriate food safety, sanitation, and food-handling practices Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary food preparation area Assist with serving, portioning, and distributing meals to classrooms Be attentive to documented food allergies, dietary restrictions, and individual meal requirements Communicate with teachers and leadership regarding meal needs, supplies, or concerns Assist with maintaining appropriate food and kitchen supplies Help make mealtimes an enjoyable and positive experience for our children You do not need to be a professional chef. We are looking for someone who is comfortable in the kitchen, can follow menus and procedures, stays organized, and takes pride in preparing meals for children. Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older Minimum of 5 years of experience working with children , with preschool or early childhood classroom experience strongly preferred Must be available Monday-Friday from at least 10:00 AM-5:30 PM Comfortable preparing and serving hot meals for groups of children Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, allergy, and dietary procedures Genuine passion for working with preschool-aged children Commitment to working in an early childhood setting for at least one year Willingness to meet Michigan Child Care Licensing educational and training requirements CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen certification, or willingness to obtain required certifications Ability to work collaboratively with and follow the direction of the Lead Teacher Strong understanding of developmentally appropriate interactions and positive guidance Strong teamwork, organization, and communication skills Dependable, patient, flexible, and able to adapt throughout the day Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during challenging situations What We're Looking For This position is perfect for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and likes being an important part of the daily operation of a childcare center.
