Employees shall receive training to develop competencies during their orientation period. It is not expected that employees will have all of these competencies upon hire.

High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in working with persons with IDD preferred, but not required.

Work Environment:
The work environment can be busy or noisy depending on the environment, or working independent with the consumers either in community or in the consumer home.
Other Requirements:
Will obtain pre-employment drug screening, review and sign agency drug policy. Will need to provide proof of personal vehicle insurance. Will provide a valid chauffer driver's license once hired by PCADD, prior have valid driver license. Successful completion of a criminal background check. Be at least 18 years of age The family or individual will, whenever possible, be involved in selecting the Community Inclusion Specialist, particularly if the staff is to be providing services in their home. Must be able to be on time for work each day scheduled. Must notify supervisor 2 hours before scheduled to begin work if unable to work that day. Must be able to read and write legibly in complete sentences and use computer for Set Works. Be able to physically pull, push or lift up to 30 pounds on a daily basis Must be able to follow directions from supervisor and chain of command at PCADD. Must be able to work flexible schedules, including days, nights, weekends and holidays, last minute changes. Must be able to adapt to different sites and environments. Must possess good public relation skills. Must be able to demonstrate good work ethics. Must be able to use computer for daily documentation. Will seek out, encourage and participate in staff development in-services to broaden the understanding and growth of the program. Will attend all monthly, quarterly & ISP's as designated by the Program Director. Will assist in development of programs. Will assist in the assessment of consumer. Will maintain record and implement goals as set by the ISP team. Will attend staff meetings as designated by the Program Director. Will provide transportation to consumers in personal or agency vehicles when needed or by supervisor request. Must wear seat belt in agency or personal vehicles when working. Will help with janitorial/sanitation tasks as needed. Will respectfully and appropriately interact with the consumers at all times and provide protective oversight as required. Will keep assigned vehicle clean, vacuumed and washed, complete vehicle checklist by the 20th of each month as designated by supervisor. Will fill out and keep all documentation required by the Department of Mental Health, CARF, and PCADD to include: incident reports, medication sheets, attendance records daily, quality assurance checklist, staff notes, ISP documentation, time sheets daily, and outcomes. Use Set Works program to document on programs, purge book with updated information, filing current papers. Complete end of month checklist and complete individual life assessment by the consumers ISP meeting date. Will leave agency vehicle with ½ a tank of gas and all doors locked when finished transporting consumers for the day. Staff will complete pre trip inspection form each day on each vehicle you drive. Will complete maintenance request forms for vehicle repairs as needed. Will remain flexible and assume duties as indicated by the Program Director. Will help consumers learn necessary skills for activities of daily living while in the community. Will maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes cooperation with consumers, their families, customers, co-workers and supervisors in all phases of consumer's services. Will provide opportunities to consumers to change their schedules services to meet the consumer's needs. Will assist consumers with hygiene and self-care needs as required. Will obtain a Medication Aid Level 1 certificate and administer medications as required by a Doctors order. Will support consumers to develop and maintain friendships, clubs, volunteer sites, or worship services that are important to them. Will support the emotional well-being and development of consumers, along with dietary needs. Will not engage in power struggles with consumers who resist or challenge requests or directions. Will guide consumer in transitioning from one activity to another in a positive manner. Will be professional and respectful during all interactions with all PCADD co-workers. Will attend required training that is designate by PCADD when offered. Will abide by the personnel policies and procedures of PCADD. Will provide information to supervisor of changes to consumer's services, needs, wants and staff schedules needs. Will be aware of consumer's mood and interact with PCADD philosophy. Will provide Community Inclusion services as specified by the ISP team based on individual need if requested. Staff must participate with individuals during an activity unless the ISP states different in the individual plan or the individual requested it. Will follow the Community Inclusion Team Charter.
