POSITION SUMMARY
To assist in providing a safe and caring environment where children's natural excitement for exploring, discovering, and learning are nurtured; assist in providing a good foundation for elementary school, in accordance with each child's ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

8:00 AM to 4:30
PM, Monday-Friday Status:
Full-time (40 hours weekly); School Year
Salary:
$17.71
This position requires either a valid Missouri Teacher or Substitute Teacher Certification. Please add a copy of your certification to the application.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist in implementing a program that maintains the preschool philosophy and curriculum
Relate, communicate, and interact with children with patience and compassion
Interact effectively with staff and families in the program
Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality about students
Complete 12 hours of in-service each year
Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification
Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to assists students in physical tasks such as positioning, feeding, toileting, diapering, and self-help skills
Ability to assume responsibility, respect, confidentiality, patience, and compassion with young children
Ability to communicate clear and effectively
Ability to establish an encouraging, caring, and safe environment for children
Ability to judge when situation and/or information should be called to the attention of the supervisor
Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
Ability to plan and implement afternoon activities for children which provide a variety of social, art, music, language, math, science, and motor opportunities designed to challenge children's emerging abilities and support the preschool curriculum
Ability to supervise and interact with children on their level (bending, stooping, lifting, and sitting on the floor) across settings as assigned (classroom, playground, gym, lunch, crisis management)
Communicates and coordinates activity plans and classroom procedures with teacher
Communicates with parents about child's day at school
Maintains a variety of record keeping tasks such as accident reports, snacks, afternoon lesson plans and safety drills
Maintains and orders food service and classroom supplies
Responsible for the overall supervision and management of the classroom in the afternoon and teacher's absence
Shops, plans, and posts snack menus
Supervise the afternoon staff
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
60 college credit hours preferred
Experience working with children in similar setting preferred
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position
